Valeria Chavez

Chair: CEDAW

Valeria is a Senior at Clark University double-majoring in International Relations and Geography Information Science, pursuing a double-Honors Thesis. She was born in Ft Lauderdale, Florida but raised all over Peru, from Lima, the capital, to Iquitos, in the Amazon rainforest. She was last year’s Secretary General for ClarkMUN X and is this year’s President of Clark’s Model United Nations award-winning team. Although she’s attended more than 10 conferences in the North American collegiate circuit, this is only her second time Chairing a committee. Growing up in Latin America gave her a first-hand look on the rights of women in the region and as such she is really excited to see delegates debate a topic that is extremely close to her heart during her last ClarkMUN. As her friends know, she doesn’t have much free time but outside of MUN, GIS labs, and writing her thesis she loves doing yoga, baking, reading just about anything she can get a hold of, and losing her passport in foreign countries (particularly those where she can’t speak the local language).
